Community & Review Guidelines

Last updated:

Ratings and exchange reports help travellers avoid rip-offs and find great places, but only if they are honest. Rate only places you actually visited, describe your own experience, keep it respectful and never share anyone’s personal information. We may remove content and limit accounts that break these guidelines.

1. Why these guidelines exist

TourIts ratings power the store fairness colours, “App picks” and place scores that other travellers rely on. Honest, first-hand contributions make the whole community safer and smarter. These guidelines apply to star ratings, comments, exchange store reports, place reports and any other content you submit.

2. Who can contribute

Contributing requires a TourIts account, which helps us prevent spam and fake reviews. Exchange store ratings can be submitted within 24 hours of a Change Helper check, so they reflect a real, recent exchange.

3. What we want to see

  • First-hand experiences: rate only places you actually visited or used.
  • Specifics: the rate you got, how long you waited, whether staff were helpful, whether the place matched its listing.
  • Fairness: describe what happened, not who you think someone is.
  • Useful tips for other travellers, like “ask for the rate for larger amounts” or “closed on Mondays despite the listing”.

4. What’s not allowed

  • Fake reviews: rating places you did not visit, rating your own business or a competitor’s, or reviews paid for or offered in exchange for discounts.
  • Conflicts of interest: reviewing a business you own, work for or are closely connected to.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats or discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic.
  • Personal information: names, photos, phone numbers or descriptions that identify individual staff or other customers.
  • Accusations of crimes presented as fact without basis. Describe what happened to you instead.
  • Sexually explicit, violent or illegal content.
  • Spam, advertising, links or promotion.
  • Recordings or transcripts of people. Never post or describe the content of proof recordings in reviews.

5. Reporting content

If you see content that breaks these guidelines, tap ••• next to it and choose Report, then pick a reason. You can also email support@tourits.app with the place name and the problem. If you believe content infringes your rights (for example a defamation or copyright concern), tell us what content and why, and include your contact details.

6. How we moderate

We use a combination of automated checks (for example unusual rating patterns, duplicate content or reports from the same device) and human review. We may:

  • hide or remove content;
  • exclude suspicious reports from fairness scores and App picks;
  • limit, suspend or close accounts for serious or repeated violations.

Where required by law, we tell you why content was removed and how to appeal.

7. Appeals

If you think we removed your content or restricted your account by mistake, reply to our notice or email support@tourits.app within 6 months, explaining why. A different person will review the decision where possible, and we will tell you the outcome.

8. Businesses

Businesses may not pay to remove ratings, change fairness scores or become an App pick. If a business believes information about it is wrong (for example its location or opening hours), it may contact us, and we will review it. Businesses can improve their scores the only way that works: by offering fair rates and good service.

9. How ratings are displayed

Ratings are shown without your email or real name. Store fairness scores are aggregated from many reports and may give more weight to recent ones. Content you submit is licensed to TourIts as described in the Terms of Use.
